Wonder no longer!! I went and got one so I could spill all the deets in this blog – and let me tell you, a Custom Facial is everything.

Let's break it down: What happens during one of these custom facial treatments?

THE CONSULTATION

Before my appointment, I was sent a short online form that asked about my skin concerns and my usual skincare routine, so when I got to the salon my Skin Specialist, Hope Simmons was already aware of my skin history!

She took me back to the cutest, coziest private facial room and we chatted a bit more in-depth about my skin. Hope used my answers to customize each element of my custom facial experience.

Bottom Line: She got to know my skin and I got to get comfy!

THE CLEANSE

To begin, my skin was gently cleansed twice to remove any makeup, lift impurities, start addressing any skin issues, and prep the skin for the rest of the facial service.

After my skin was nice and clean, it was gently exfoliated. This was probably the most relaxing exfoliation treatment I have ever had – no harsh scrubbing beads or abrasive textures – instead the exfoliants she used are gentle chemical exfoliators which use AHAs and BHAs!

Following the exfoliation, my lovely Skin Specialist checked my skin for pore congestion and safely extracted any clogged pores, for deep cleansing and to help reduce blackheads and future breakouts (SO GRATEFUL!).

With a fresh, fully cleansed face, the toner was applied. I was not using a toner in my skincare routine and Hope explained to me that an effective toner will protect my skin, enhance product penetration, and even out the porosity of my skin.

THE MASKS (AKA My Favourite Part)

Now comes the ultimate relaxation - a custom face mask – scratch that – TWO custom face masks!!! My Skin Specialist mixed up a mask which was set to soothe redness, moisturize, and soften my skin. She then gently applied it to my face using the absolute softest brush; it felt like she was painting my face with the most soothing, cool cream – just heavenly!

While the mask did its thing, I got to enjoy the super calming scalp massage. The scalp massage was seriously NEXT LEVEL and my favourite part of this whole experience – I may or may not have fallen asleep.

Hope removed the mask using a steamy warm towel before she applied mask number 2 – a hydro jelly mask! This mask was personalized for hydrating & brightening the skin and was painted on with a brush. The jelly mask can be applied over your entire face - including your eyes and mouth. You can skip the eyes and mouth if you don’t think you will like it; however, I would HIGHLY recommend trying at least over the eyes! The feeling of the cool mask gently pressing against my eyes lids is hard to describe but it is a super relaxing and wonderful feeling! 

While the jelly mask set, I was treated to another soothing scalp massage and a gentle neck and décolleté massage – this service makes you feel ultra-pampered.

When the jelly mask was fully set, it was smoothly peeled off (the most satisfying feeling - remember peeling dried white glue off your hands as a kid? Like that, only so much better).

THE FINAL TOUCHES

To finish off the treatment, Hope applied a serum to boost collagen in the skin, making it firmer, plumping out fine lines and wrinkles, and enhancing radiance. She also applied a moisturizer and eye cream to brighten and boost hydration. And the last step was a light application of the best SPF cream – leaving me with super soft, now-glowing, happy skin.

THE FUTURE

At the end of the service, we chatted more about my skin routine and my lovely Skin Specialist gave me advice on which products I should be using to keep my skin looking and feeling so so happy. Many of the products used for my treatment were available for purchase at the salon or on our online store which made it so easy for me! She also told me about add-on services like Dermaplaning and recommended it to me for next time to aid in exfoliation, make my skin glow even more, and give me a flawless makeup application. Needless to say, I know what I am booking next!
